Girls’ Generation Member Profile

Girls’ Generation  is a 9 member South Korean girl group created by SM Entertainment in 2007. The 9 members are: Taeyeon (leader), Yuri, Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon,  Sooyoung, Yoona, and Seohyun. They are often referred or usually called as SoShi , or SNSD (mainly outside Korea), the beginning of which is an abbreviation and the 2d an acronym of the group’s Korean call So Nyuh Shi Dae. In China, they’re called as  (Siu Nui Si Doi or Shàon? Shídài; in Hong Kong) and in Japan as  (Sh?jo Jidai).

The group has released two full albums, three mini-albums, and several singles. Their 2009 hit single “Gee” holds the record for being the longest running #1 song on KBS’s Music Bank, having admitted the #1 chart top-level for 9 consecutive weeks.That year also buzzed group acquiring several awards, including sequentially Artist of the Year (Daesang) awards at Golden Disk Awards, Melon Music Awards, the Seoul Music Awards, and the Korean Cultural Entertainment Awards.
